Cooperative Mosaic Project

Honoring: Fletcher and Margaret Collins

Welcome!

It's great you've made it here! This is our first attempt at a Cooperative Mosaic project - a community art project that will literally bring together the efforts of hundreds of local artists! If you are a local person (or maybe a not local person that's willing to shell out for a little postage) please read on and see how you can get involved!

"Sooooo...what's the "Big Idea"?!?"

First of all, the idea comes to us from Board Members Heath Pecorino and Drew Bergman. Their idea had two facets: to create a composite image from many individual (and small) canvases and to honor Francis and Margaret Collins. If you do not know who these people are, know that their contributions to the Staunton area theater, music and art community are essentially unprecedented. They directly and indirectly effected many of the Ampersand Board members and make a great subject for our initial Cooperative Mosaic endeavor.

We will be handing out and collecting 600 canvases! Once returned, the canvases will be scanned into a computer and fed into a piece of software that is currently under development by Brooks Hollar and Sam Patteson. The software will produce an image from the many individual images that (hopefully!) looks like the image above.

"Holy Cow! That's great! How can I get involved?"

Well, please visit one of the businesses below. They have been nice enough to set our displays out and man them. Once you have your canvas you have until April 17th to turn them back in. More information is available on the participants page.
